Burning Bridges

Can you see me standing
On the far bank
With the torch in my hand
And regret in my eyes
Through the flickering light
And billowing smoke
And the times and events
That will never be shared
Were you crossing to me
When I stepped on the shore
And reflexively touched
My flame to the rail
Are there burns on your face
As there is soot on mine
Do you feel the heat
Of things coming undone
Can you see me standing
Before I turn away
Carrying a torch
And ashes in my eyes

Notes: Okay, *this* is about a relationship. :) Actually, it's about more than one...
